The Dolphin PCI Express Gen2 product family named IX takes advantage of PCI Express technology from IDT. The product family is designed using IDT PCI Express Gen2 switch and bridge chips and provides a full 80 Gbps (aggregated bidirectional) performance over standard PCI Express cables. Two PCI Express cards connected point to point creates a high performance connection or a single card can connect to the Dolphin PCI Express switch or to any other PCI Express equipment, IO systems,or other devices that support PCI Express x8 compliant iPass connectors. Dolphin PCI Express IX products supports both transparent and non-transparent communication.

Used in transparent mode, a card will run without the need for special drivers, supports legacy devices, and device drivers. In NTB mode,these cards enable low latency processor to processor communication. Dolphin's SuperSockets, optimized TCP/IP drivers and SISCI API are supported in NTB mode, providing a standard software model for processor communication.
