The Dolphin PCI-SCI adapter card is a standard, high-performance solution for clustered systems, bus bridging and system area network applications.
The PCI-SCI adapter card is the high-performance, economical way to build system area networks for clustering of personal computers, workstations and servers. SCI is ideal for highly available, scalable database systems and other mission critical enterprise servers.
Dolphin's industry-leading throughput and low latency result in maximal application performance and scalability. Its 1333 MBytes/s link speed (bidirectional) makes SCI excellent at moving large volumes of data. The ultra-low 1.46 microsecond latency application-to-application reduces the overhead of internode control messages, leading to the best possible scalability for multi-node applications. SCI's performance is achieved by taking maximum advantage of fast point-to-point links, and bypassing the time consuming operating system calls and protocol software overhead found in traditional networking approaches.
For high availability requirements, SCI provides hot-pluggable connections; and redundant SCI cards can be used to increase fault tolerance. Large clusters can be built using Dolphin Interconnect compatible scalable switches.
